This thing is 50/50 like most sensitive topics you can argue it both ways and never win... would i want to see every girl looking all slim and trim and perfect ?? no .. there has to be major differences amoung us.. we need to be able to make comparisons both mentally and physically, boring is a world if every looked and thinks the same ..

On the other hand, good health benifts come with being in shape, and being in shape does not always point to being slim and trim, with regards to miss kitty, she is a tad bit too confident for my likeing, it plays off as being 'NUFF' but she do her thing and do it well ...

Many may not find her 'sexy' but i assure you that just as many find her 'sexy' You had your rant, was a good read ... gonna grab some diet popcorn and gawn wait on ms kittie's responce ... lol

    Im Out

Seriously i thought i was the only one who saw the issue you have identified here Gordon. But Jamaican's are very quick to jump on the road of moving with a hype because a radio personality or some person in the public domain says something. It's full time someone slam the message home, saying "FAT IS NOT OKAY" as can be seen through your google search.

Many persons are of the opinion if you're not fat you will be anorexic or bulimic, wrong. I'm almost positive that what Gordon and others who are upset about this radio personality promoting "unhealthy lifestyle" is that people must realize that they hold the power of control in their life and ought to do something about it. Don't get me wrong, i'm all for the upliftment of self through the promotion of high self-esteem and loving oneself, but a line ought to be drawn somewhere. In my opinion that line should be drawn at the promotion of "unhealthy lifestyle" such as the one being detailed.

I'm almost positive, some among us may be able to relate stories about some female we know by some acquaintances of some "Fluffy Diva" of the sort who is overweight and their reply with some quote saying that they "fluffy". Can you imagine a woman on their way or diagnose with coronary heart disease or osteoarthritis saying they "fluffy...you don't hear what Ms. Kitty say? Fluffy to the world", now seriously what is being promoted here?

Who can remember publishing executive, Glynis Salmon when she took pages in the Gleaner's Flair Magazine talking about her journey to lose weight? Come on people, come on Jamaica lets indicate to our "personalities" what we consider "right for us".

Broadcast Commission can sanction songs and videos now who sanctions such a "unhealthy cry"? Ministry of Health, perhaps?

Help can someone hear concern individuals crying here? You know i seriously asking myself what next, a Ms Jamaica Fat, sorry Ms Fluffy Jamaica or something that equates?

I want a well spoken, straightforward, handsome Jamaican man to speak at my funeral. I'm thinking Gordon Swaby is a perfect candidate. I'm reading this article with tears running down my cheeks. No, like seriously, I think peed my pants too.

OMG, why is it so hard to become self-aware? Go Gordon! Hey, they can't say you didn't give them fair warning...

    I have just one B-word for you.....BRAVO!!

I actually think this chick is kinda cute, but I like my women with meat on their bones. That being said, there comes a point where these women are being delusional. Sure, you're comfortable with your fat (yeah right), but that doesn't mean you should be encouraged to stay that way or hate others because they're NOT fat. The bottom line is that you are not healthy and, while you should be comfortable in your skin, you should realize the reality of your situation.

To answer your question Gordon: Does this picture look sexy? My answer to you is: "Um....well her hair looks nice. =)"

i love her, i really do, but being fat isn't "cool" and not something to aim to be.
  • Stunnerj · 3 months ago
I like Miss kitty too, her energy and also her self confidence, but seriously she need to loose some weight and posing in that outfit is not sexy.

It's definitely unhealthy to be fat and no one who is overweight can be perfectly happy with it even if only for health reasons. But let us not forget that there are health conditions of being too slim, i.e. undernutrition. Also there is anorexia and bulimia, normally the result of psychological problems of skewed self-image among both males and females. Eating too much and eating too little are both problems. Personally i have tried not to be absorbed in my weight but recently had to wake up to the fact that I'm about 30 pounds heavier than I was 7 years ago. I've been avoiding that obsession with weight that we females tend to get when we think what is in the mirror is "fat". Scary. So i ignored the weight I was putting on and tried to play down the ever-increasing "pouch". It was recently said straight up to me that I need to do something about this. Which I'm trying. I've started with a bit more physical activity with yoga in the mornings and walking / jogging on some evenings. My weight fluctuates under normal circumstances so my success is not yet apparent according to the bathroom scale. I can tell you that I feel better each time i'm done with yoga or with walking and jogging. And it is not always about losing weight. I would be happy if i can lose something but it is more important to me right now to at least know that I'm doing much more than the nothing i've been doing for years. I don't believe that people should be looked down on because they are fat. I don't agree with the merciless staring pointing laughing episodes that I see from time to time. But I do believe that each person should make a personal effort to be healthy in terms of eating the right foods (not dieting) and exercising. And the best thing to do is to avoid those "reasons not to exercise". You know "when I'm done with school" or "it might rain" or "I don't have any company". Just do it. People need to accept that doing all the right things may not always make you thin so being healthy - not just losing weight - should be the objective.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Damn it man, this fluffy thing is ridiculous. I agree that it benefits no one to glorify being not just overweight but morbidly obese. We live in a nation that for some reason enjoys praising negative things, from gun violence, to rape, to ignorance, to plain stupidity.

Now let me clear up some things before I go on:
    1. Obesity is measured by BMI, and is as follows, Overweight= 25-29; Obese = 30-39 Morbidly (Extreme) Obese 40-54
    2. On that scale, I am Obese and I actually agree with it.
    3. I like Ms. Kitty, she makes me laugh and smile very much. She is an amazing Media Personality and brings much to the atmosphere.

That being said, since the very first time I heard the term uttered my thoughts on it have not changed. I understand the idea of I am showing I am proud of me, I just believe that if I am really proud, I don't have to put on a facade to prove it. It's like a girl who can't leave home without make-up and a weave - it's a daily lie! As Shakespeare said, that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet and as everyone else says, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it is a duck. Therefore, fluffy or fat, the truth remains you are what you are. Prettying it up only stinks of complacency, and reeks of insecurity.

In the 60's James Brown wasn't prettying it up by saying, I'm proud to be an African-American, he said "I'm Black and I'm Proud". State who you are and why you are proud to be who you are - don't go around corners and excuse it. Because now, what does she do? She has made this her image, if she somehow presents with diabetes (which is highly likely) and is forced to lose weight by her doctor who will say - get fit or die quick is she then a non-entity?

As an individual who is not mawga nor wishes to be, but understands that I am not in a healthy state I would rather you refer to my physique as fat not fluffy. Those who have called me fluffy in my presence have been corrected. I am not fluffy, cats are fluffy, some dogs are fluffy and if you mess with my hair, it gets fluffy. Me, I am fat, overweight, and on some days obese.

Understanding and accepting yourself are not the same as putting on a facade and pretending the mask is reality.

Nobody ain't try to take away your rights woman. just go work out. get fit. Its better for you.

And another thing I bet you any money is not no health related fatness that, like if she simple dieted and worked out she'ld lose weight.

  • Ms Kitty Lovr · 1 month ago
Ok...whoever wrote this article is very ignorant
Ms. Kitty says dt u can be skinny and be fluffy, fluffy is a mindset
She is encouraging women to be comfortable with themselves and letting people know that the onli form of beauty is not the typical coca-cola bottle shape.
Yes there are diseases that can come from being overweight, but what about the person who's family build is just thick? What should she do? "Save Jamaica and Lost Some Bone Mass" ...Doe B Dumb
And I think the choice of kitty has to do with being cute ... not athletic or agile
And there are many people that believe that very slim and "fit" people are unattractive as well, AND being slim does not mean that you are fit.
Therefore for you to write your comments and your opinion is one thing
But for you to bash her for trying to give some young women confidence about their body types and look for one of the most unflattering pictures of her *because normally speaking miss kitty has lovely outfits ...this was for carnival and she was hosting something for RE TV * is ignorant
Therefore, maybe you should do some more research on Fluffy and what it means instead of throwing out random facts about diabetes.
It's people like you that contribute to society's rigid image of beauty and makes hundreds of girls get sick every day trying to conform to it.
